We are looking for a Cloud and Systems Administrator who can join our team and make an immediate impact through their creativity, enthusiasm and technical abilities.  Our Cloud and Systems Administrator will have skilled knowledge of administering systems, network and security for large-scale cloud-based and physical hardware, running Linux/Mac OS/Windows OS in a rapid-pace software development environment.  We aren’t looking for someone who will simply go through the motions, but someone willing to go beyond expectations, do something important, and make a true difference.
As a Cloud and Systems Administrator, your responsibilities will include:
  • Support TRABUS software development and AI/data science teams through setup of physical hardware such as rack servers, desktops and laptops; including configuring hardware such as RAID, hard-drives, memory modules, graphic cards/GPUs and network cards 
  • Setup and manage cloud-based servers on cloud-platforms, manage cloud-based backup and recovery processes, monitor and maintain network security, troubleshooting of cloud-server issues  
  • Setup of VMs and containers; as needed, assist TRABUS engineers with security hardening processes on VMs/containers.
  • Installation and troubleshooting of operating systems (Linux, Mac OS, Windows) related issues for software developers, including security configurations and system updates.
  • Establish safe and efficient network capabilities that facilitates software development under hybrid (remote and in-office) work environments and on hybrid OS setups.
  • Establish secure network security protocols for TRABUS cloud and physical computing assets through firewalls, port securing, SSH and as applicable, VPN.  
  • Assist in configuration and troubleshooting of web-servers such as Apache and Nginx.
  • Write automation scripts as needed to provide 24/7/365 day operations/data services.
  • Help Trabus software developers in deployment of scalable full-stack applications through deployment of Docker containers or Kubernetes clusters
  • Maintain robust cybersecurity environment by conducting periodic network scans and taking pro-active risk mitigation steps.

The below are minimal required skills for the position.  You will be a good fit, if you have them:
  • 2-3 years of experience in Redhat/CentOS Linux, Ubuntu and other Unix-based operating systems.
  • Experience in deploying VMs and containerized applications.
  • System administration skills for both physical hardware (rack servers) and cloud-based systems
  • Management of web-servers and web-services.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (SSH, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, tcp/udp etc) and firewalls (iptables, port security)
  • Experience in configuring and troubleshooting network switches and establishing secure channels that enable remote and in-person developer environments.  

You will be an even better fit, if you have these preferred skills:
  • 2+ years of experience in setting up cloud-based services (servers such as AWS EC2, containers, databases such as AWS RDS, web-servers and serverless architectures such as AWS Lambda)
  • 2+ years of experience in container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Basic understanding of Windows sub-system linux (WSL)
  • Scripting skills to automate and monitor system and network administration jobs.

We’d expect you to have the following educational background, but appropriate experience (above) may outweigh the education requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Data Science or other STEM related discipline
