Position:Capture Manager/Technical Writer Full-time Location: San Diego, CA Compensation: $125,000 - $145,000 Clearance Level: Secret

SUMMARY: TRABUS has an opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated Capture Manager / Technical Writer to lead and manage the capture process for both federal government and commercial opportunities. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the capture process, from pipeline development to proposal submission, while also serving as a technical writer and proposal coordinator. This position requires an understanding of emerging technologies in IT, AI, wireless, and software along with the ability to craft compelling, technically accurate proposals and ensure compliance across all submission documents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Capture Pursuit Development:
Build and manage a robust pipeline of capture pursuits across federal government and commercial industries, with a focus on near-term (<6 months), medium-term (6-12 months), and long-term (>12 months) opportunities.
Develop and execute strategies to capture both new business and existing contract renewals.
Capture Management and Proposal Coordination:
Lead capture efforts as the Capture Manager, Proposal Coordinator, Technical Writer, and Compliance Checker to ensure that all proposal submissions meet requirements and deadlines.
Utilize an extensive SharePoint repository to create compelling and technically accurate prose for all writing assignments.
Develop and maintain Capability Matrices and coordinate overall teaming strategies to maximize tasking coverage and the quality of proposal submissions.
Lead and facilitate team dynamics during proposal preparation to ensure alignment and collaboration across all contributors.
Strategic Advantage Development:
Leverage the company’s domain expertise in key areas such as wireless, AI, cyber, environmental, maintenance and repair, and transportation to create a compelling value proposition for proposals.
Utilize the company’s status as a small business and service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) to provide an "unfair advantage" in capturing work.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key government clients, fostering trust and collaboration.
Design and assemble teams that complement and enhance the company’s value proposition to clients.
Collaboration and Staffing:
Collaborate with the Director of Operations to identify the best candidates for proposal teams based on expertise and availability.
Track and monitor all capture pursuits, ensuring that the required resources and staffing are aligned for proposals and that teams are available for deployment upon award.
Team Building and Leadership:
As the company grows, take on the responsibility of building and leading a team to support the capture management and technical writing efforts, ensuring scalability and continuity in efforts.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in capture management, technical writing, or proposal coordination, with a strong understanding of wireless technologies, AI, and related technical domains.
Demonstrated experience working with federal government contracts and commercial industries.
Proven ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
US citizenship and a final DoD adjudicated Secret Clearance
DESIRED:
Skilled in crafting clear, persuasive, and technically accurate proposals.
Deep understanding of the capture process, from identifying opportunities to final proposal submission.
Proficient in SharePoint, the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other proposal management tools.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Adept at analyzing complex technical content and transforming it into compelling, reader-friendly proposals.
Experienced in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including technical experts, operations, and executives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on procedural compliance, multitasking, and meeting deadlines.
Capture Manager certification (e.g., APMP Capture Management Professional) is a plus.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus.
