As a COLUMBIA Submarine Systems Engineer your responsibilities will include:
  • Provide engineering and systems engineering support to the program office
  • Prepare and execute environmental documentation for exercises as it required by U.S law
  • Recommend course of action(s) for unexpected technical and programmatic issues related to RDT&E
  • Generate Acquisition documentation for Milestone Reviews
  • Perform technical planning, cost, schedule, risk, supportability, and effectiveness analysis for total systems; analyses performed at concept, design, test, evaluation, and operational phases
  • Review and develop analytical and technical input needed in order to evaluate documentation and development of briefs to ensure accurate, timely and essential information is proved to decision makers
  • Prepare Unclassified and Classified briefs for audiences up to and including the Flag level
  • Conduct technical review of engineering design products (diagram changes, technical reports, specifications, procedures, drawings) and GFI (Government Furnished Information) in order to support identification of acoustic impacts and deficiencies.
  • Develop and manage routing and signatures for official PMS397 correspondence
  • Archive relevant engineering technical information and SSIT responses to ensure proper documentation of Objective Qualitative Evidence (OQE).
  • Maintain tracking matrix to support prioritization that allows for timely completion of reviewed engineering design products.
  • Stern Area System Integrated Product Team Support
  • Attend UK Meetings - Polaris Sales Agreement Task Support

We’d expect you to have the following qualifications and/or education requirements:
  • A BS in Systems Engineering, Acoustics, or a related engineering or science degree is required (see below).
  • Five years of related technical experience working within a DoD Program Office or Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA); Submarine design, production and/or operational experience is desired.
  • Ability to understand and succinctly summarize, communicate, and document technical issues.
  • The ability to use a variety of software products (e.g., MS Office).
  • Must be articulate in oral and written presentations; possess high organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Must be a self-starter, possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work directly with various government and contractor representatives to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner independently or with minimal supervision.

You will be an even better fit if you have experience in these areas:
  • Experience providing technical briefings and recommendations of reviewed engineering design products in order to support the SEA05P1 Acoustic Technical Warrant Holder (TWH) and the Signature System Integration Team (SSIT) design decision process.
  • Experience developing coherent consolidated engineering technical responses in order to identify actions necessary for resolution of acoustic deficiencies.
  • Work experience in the Navy and specifically within Team Submarine or onboard submarines is a plus and may compensate for not meeting degree requirements.
US citizenship and a final DoD adjudicated Secret clearance is required.
