We are looking for a COLUMBIA Submarine Engineer who can join our team and make an immediate impact through their creativity, enthusiasm, and technical abilities.  Our Submarine Engineer will provide oversight and programmatic support to the COLUMBIA Class program office in the Washington, DC area. He will be responsible for the review and development of  analytical and technical input needed to evaluate documentation, and development of briefs to ensure accurate, timely and essential information is provided to decision makers.  TRABUS isn’t looking for someone who will simply go through the motions, but someone willing to go beyond expectations, do something important, and make a true difference.

As a COLUMBIA Submarine Engineer your responsibilities will include:
  • Manage multiple priorities and provide technical recommendations/solutions to complex problems encountered during the administration of the construction contracts.
  • Coordinate post-award contract meetings, preconstruction conferences, (informal or formal) partnering meetings, schedule acceptance meetings, design review meetings, coordination and mutual understanding meetings, and final inspections.
  • Manage Requests for Information and deliver timely responses.
  • Provide effective and timely contractual correspondence; be capable of tactfully and professionally communicating (verbal and in writing) program office requirements.
  • Prepare Unclassified and Classified briefs for audiences up to and including the Flag level
  • Develop and manage routing and signatures for official PMS 397 correspondence
  • Provide engineering and systems engineering support to the program office
  • Prepare and execute environmental documentation for exercises as it required by U.S law
  • Recommend courses of action for unexpected technical and programmatic issues related to military construction
  • Generate Acquisition documentation for Milestone Reviews
  • Perform technical planning, cost, schedule, risk, supportability, and effectiveness analysis for total systems; analyses performed at concept, design, test, evaluation, and operational phases

We’d expect you to have the following qualifications and/or education requirements:
  • A BS in Civil Engineering or a related engineering or science degree is required (see below).
  • Five years of related technical experience working within a DoD Program Office, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), or Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC); Submarine design, production and/or operational experience is desired. Have the ability to understand and succinctly summarize, communicate, and document technical issues.
  • The ability to use a variety of software products (e.g., MS Office).
  • Must be articulate in verbal and written presentations; possess high organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Must be a self-starter, possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work directly with various government and contractor representatives to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner independently or with minimal supervision.

You will be an even better fit if you have experience in these areas:
  • Work experience in the Navy and specifically within Team Submarine or onboard submarines is a plus and may compensate for not meeting degree requirements.

US citizenship and a final DoD adjudicated Secret clearance is required.
