Position Description
TRABUS is seeking a Senior Applications Programmer who analyzes, designs and develops computer software required to support hardware or technical service products. Performs systems modeling, simulation and analysis. Reviews system architecture, and selects and implements appropriate development and support tools to ensure product performance.Contributes to the development of new ideas and principles. Solves uniquely complex problems, working under consultative direction.  Provides high level technical guidance to more junior engineers and manages moderately complex projects. Customer interactions include working directly with customers in broad areas of project management and execution.Makes independent analyses/assessments/ decisions related to key aspects of projects or overall project planning and execution.
  • Provide high quality code development using a variety of tools and languages, segment integration, installation, and testing in appropriate laboratory settings
  • Follow application development best practices including Application Lifecycle Management and secure coding
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify technical requirements, architecture, programming and code design specifications
  • Participate in code reviews and all SCRUM activities
  • Participate in test plan development and support procedures to test the functionality of operational and/or support software
  • Deploy developed applications and maintain development, QA, and production environments
  • Produce or revise existing documentation in support of new and modified software
  • Support a configuration management system which provides tracking of all new, and changed, operational or support software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or a related field required. Masters desired
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or a related field required. Masters desired
  • Bachelor's experience- 8 years, Master's- 6 years, PHD- 4 years.
  • 10 years of experience in software design, development, and test & evaluations
  • 4 years hands on coding experience working on web development projects.
  • 3 years of experience with Database development, Web page design, Computer Based Training development, and using .NET tools and .net Integrated Development Environment tools,, SQL Server 2000, and HTML editor tools
    Strong in one or more of the following:  Java; Groovy; JavaScript (+ jQuery, d3, backbone, marionette); HTML (+ css, less);
  • Desired experience with Spring; Maven; Twitter Storm; Accumulo; IntelliJ IDE; GIT; Atlassian Tools (Confluence; Stash; JIRA; Bamboo; SourceTree)
  • Experience with software development best practices; e.g., SCRUM / Agile required
  • Experience with Navy or DOD clients
  • Experience working on a development team performing data ingestion, analysis and visualization on large data sets desired
  • Possession of excellent team-oriented, team building, presentation, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be a self-starter, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
