Since 2010, TRABUS has delivered cutting-edge solutions in wireless technologies, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence to federal and private sector clients.
We are proud to have been recognized by Inc. 5000 as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. for seven consecutive years. At TRABUS, innovation and mission success are at the heart of what we do.
SUMMARY: TRABUS is seeking an experienced Senior LINUX Systems Administrator (SysAdmin) to support the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific Code 551, and the TRABUS team of Software Engineers and Development Operations (DevOps) teams to build, mature, and deploy the C4I Network for the Navy’s Unmanned Carrier Aviation platform, the MQ-25 Stingray. The Senior LINUX SysAdmin will build, optimize, and maintain the underlying infrastructure required to test the team’s modern software applications in a highly secure, offline environment. Working alongside the Senior Software Engineers and DevOps teams, the successful candidate will ensure the servers hosting the environments and CI/CD tools are stable, secure, and dynamically scaled. The Senior LINUX SysAdmin will focus on automating server deployment, enforcing DoD Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance on Red Hat systems, and optimizing the environment to seamlessly bring servers up or down based on the testing needs of our Java Spring Boot applications and microservices architecture.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deploy, configure, and dynamically scale (bring up or tear down) infrastructure across bare metal servers and virtual machines based on the fluctuating testing demands of the Java Spring Boot applications.
Maintain, monitor, and optimize the underlying server infrastructure that hosts the CI/CD tools (including GitLab and Jenkins), ensuring high availability for the DevOps teams managing the pipelines.
Implement and heavily automate the configuration, STIG compliance enforcement, and routine patching of Red Hat Linux 8/9 systems to ensure maximum security and minimal manual overhead.
Perform essential system administration, configure networking equipment, and execute reliable "sneakernet" data transfers to keep systems updated within a strictly disconnected and air-gapped network environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.
At least five (5) years of experience; including extensive hands-on administrative experience, specifically with Red Hat Linux 8/9 deployment, automated patching, and STIG application.
Strong scripting and infrastructure automation capabilities (using tools like Bash, Python, or Ansible) to transition manual tasks into automated provisioning and dynamic scaling workflows.
Proven hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and administering bare metal server hardware and virtual machines to support high-demand testing environments and microservices architectures.
Demonstrated ability to maintain and optimize the underlying server hardware and operating systems that support enterprise CI/CD platforms like GitLab and Jenkins.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Clearance: Fully adjudicated DoD active Secret clearance
Experience with the deployment, configuration, and daily usage of Red Hat Satellite for centralized patch management and Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) servers for authentication is a strong plus.
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies, with the ability to help evaluate and potentially introduce Kubernetes in the future to further enhance infrastructure elasticity.
A solid understanding of system resource management and how dynamic infrastructure scaling impacts the performance and testing of enterprise-level Java Spring Boot applications.
Prior experience successfully executing administrative duties and secure physical data transfers (sneakernet) in fully disconnected or highly classified environments.
Relevant industry certifications (such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)).
